Disclosure Statement

Philosophy and Approach: My practice is a Christ centered counseling practice that focuses on spiritual formation using the principles of living taught by Jesus. I also utilize cognitive-behavioral, solution focused, communication and family systems theories. 
 
Formal Education and Training: I hold a Master's degree in Clinical Psychology from Sonoma State University in Ca. in the year 1975. Major course work included: theories of psychotherapy. I have been a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Ca. since l980 and have participated in continuing education since that time. I am certified in William Glasser's choice theory. I have trained with Virgina Satir in Family Systems Theory and Insoo Berg with Solution focused theory. In the past 15 years I have attended numerous retreats and classes helpful in the area of spiritual direction.

As a Licensee of the California Board of Behavioral Sciences I will abide by it Code of Ethics. To maintain my license I am required to participate in annual continuing education taking courses which are relevant to this profession.

As a client of a California Licensee you have the following rights:

* To expect that a licensee has met the minimal qualifications of training and experience required by law.
* To examine public records maintained by the Board and to have the board confirm credentials of a licensee.
* To obtain a copy of the code of ethics.
* To report complaints to the board.
* To be informed of the cost of professional services before receiving the services.
* To be assured of privacy and confidentiality while receiving services as defined by rule and law, including the 
   following exceptions: 1) Reporting suspected child abuse or elder abuse; 2) Reporting imminent danger to a client or others; 3) Reporting information required in court proceedings or client's insurance company, or other relevant agencies;
4) Providing information concerning licensee case consultation or supervision; and 5) Defending claims brought by client against licensee.

* To be free from being the object of discrimination on the basis of race, religion, gender or other unlawful category while receiving services.
